About this place

In the Stensjö by nature reserve, dwelling houses and barns for several farms are still gathered together as they were in many places in Småland before the land consolidation reform was carried out in the 19th century. Stensjö by is a living landscape with a rich biological cultural heritage, for example pollarded trees and species-rich meadows. The compact cluster village, the entrances and pastures with grazing livestock, winding gravel roads with kilometer-long farmyards and stone walls and large forests give a sense of a bygone Småland. Several scenes in Astrid Lindgren's films The Kids from Bullerbyn and Emil of Lönneberga were filmed here.
